-Play Sharks & Barracudas Tag @ 5 pm

-Get Crafty @ 5:30 pm - Make an Underwater scene using watercolor paints & crayons!

August 2nd, 2010 - Amelia's Artists Camp at Amelia Park Children's Museum

Amelia’s Art: an art-based camp that will create, inspire, and educate all while having fun!

This camp will do projects that focus on a variety of artistic themes: such as during Color Imagination your child could create an “Oh the Places You’ll Go” Dr. Seuss inspired painting!

Or during a Multicultural theme we’ll make Chinese fans and African weavings with animal images. Be prepared to be amazed by what your child will create during these fun, interactive, educational camp classes!

August 5th, 2010 - 'Haiti: Reconstruction' Gallery Talk by Art Collector Waleska Santiago

Art collector Waleska Santiago, of Springfield, will be giving a gallery talk in the Jasper Rand Art Museum at the Westfield Athenaeum on August 5 at 7:00 p.m., in conjunction with an art exhibit she is mounting in the gallery in August entitled Haiti: Reconstruction, highlighting her personal collection of art from Haiti collected over many years.

The exhibit will include naïf Haitian paintings, metal sculptures, books about Haitian art written by the art critic Selden Roadman, as well as catalogue publications of exhibits in the United States.

All students entering grades 6-12 are welcome to come to the library to meet with other teens and trade in books they have already read for ones they haven't read yet. No registration required.

August 5th, 2010 - Teen Game Time

Students entering grades 6-12 are invited to drop into the library to meet with friends and play games. There will be Rock Band, Guitar Hero, DDR, Wii and other various board games. No need to register, just stop by.
